Filipinos were already visible in the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour in the year 2000 when the Migrant mass was introduced and organised by the Filipino Legion of Mary and celebrated every 3 months. Eventually, the Migrant mass was held every month in 2006, and the first Tagalog mass was held in August 2008, in response to the growing numbers of the Filipinos in the parish.
Through the years, the presence of the Filipinos has grown tremendously in the parish, giving birth to different Filipino groups and communities and, thus, the Filipino Community was formed in 2014.
Filipino Communities/Groups at present:
- Filipino Legion of Mary
- Himig Pinoy Chorale
- Christ for Family and Life
- Sto. Niño de Cebu
- El Shaddai
- Hospitality Ministry
- EMHC (Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion)
- Commentators & Lectors
- Altar Servers
We strive to deepen our faith, be witnesses of Christ and embrace the community that we have, reaching out to our fellow Filipinos and all our brothers and sisters in Christ.
We, the Filipino Community of OLPS, aspire to be one family, one community and one church with our brothers and sisters in Christ through love and service.
