Ave Maria Choir

THE AVE MARIA CHOIR celebrated her 30th Anniversary on 7 Jul 2012. May our Blessed Mother continue to shower her blessings upon the choir a further 30 years!

The Ave Maria Choir sings for Saturday 6.30pm mass, and shares various other high masses on a roster with other choirs of OLPS.

Our practice is held on Saturday, before mass from 5.00-6.00pm just once a week.

The basic entry requirement to joining our family would be a pleasant singing voice and a yearning to spread God's love through song & music.

The Ave Maria Choir of the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Singapore was founded in June 1982 when Rev Fr Loiseau got Kampung Chai Chee Neighbourhood Leaders , Frederick Tie, Patrick Yeoh to form the 2nd Sunset Mass Choir of the church. Felix Tie (Frederick Tie's son) has been at the fore-front of the choir, conducting and guiding her through the past 30 years.
Along the years, the choir has been blessed with members from all walks of life, musical geniuses and singing sensations. We currently boast 5 conductors, and steady number of talented musicians.

To name a few of the activities which Ave Maria has involved herself with:-

The Musical - The Witness (combined effect with the now defunct youth choir Sempre Fi choir in the 80's)

Midnight Mass and Christmas pageant where original compositions were performed

Midnight Mass and Christmas pageant which was adapted from the album The Word, the Person, the Song by Doug Holck (Lillineas Music Creations)

Midnight Mass and Christmas pageant where a choral presentation adapted from the book "Carols Alive" was performed

Among her more recent activities, Ave Maria sang a Christmas Cantata before commencing with Mass proper at 9.00pm on Christmas Eve 2011.

To promote a close family bond, members often get together for social activities such as lunches, dinners, BBQ's and various celebrations and also strengthen ourselves spiritually with prayerful activities such as Seder Meal and reflection, Stations of the Cross, Rosary recitations and retreats.
